Peat Moss for Horticulture

Our products meet the highest standards of quality, consistency, and performance. The properties of our peat are unmatched and unique in horticulture.

We produce and ship packaged and unpackaged peat moss to over 35 countries worldwide. Peat Moss is produced at our central production site at Nurme village, Estonia. Collectively we manage over 1300 hectares of premium quality peatlands in 2 locations throughout the country. Our products are certified to the highest international standards: RHP and RPP. And are free from weeds or other contamination.

Our peat is sourced from different layers of the bog, each with distinct physical and chemical characteristics. The upper layers provide a lighter, more porous material that excels in aeration and moisture retention, essential for supporting young and delicate root systems.

Deeper layers offer peat with a naturally denser composition and a higher organic content, making it more suitable for crops with extended growth cycles or larger root structures. This peat provides a firmer substrate that supports plant development over time and ensures sufficient anchoring, water holding, and nutrient buffering.

All of our peat is meticulously screened to ensure uniformity, cleanliness, and optimal substrate structure. Each batch of peat is screened and refined into specific particle size fractions, allowing for tailored use across different growing systems.

Available options for Packaging

To meet the varying operational needs of our international customers, we offer a wide range of packaging formats that ensure ease of use, transport efficiency, and long shelf life:

  • 225L Prime bales – 595 bales/40ft
  • 250L Prime bales – 528 bales/40ft
  • 300L Prime bales – 528 bales/40ft

These compact bale sizes are widely used by nurseries and horticultural businesses seeking manageable units for manual or semi-automated handling. Each bale is tightly compressed and wrapped in durable, moisture-resistant film to maintain product integrity during storage and shipping.

  • 6000L Big bales – 22 bales/40ft

Designed for high-volume users, our big bales offer a cost-effective solution for bulk peat handling. These bales are suited for mechanized substrate processing lines and reduce packaging waste, making them ideal for commercial-scale operations.

Natural peat moss can be made into substrates by incorporating selected additives such as lime, fertilizers (including controlled-release types like Osmocote), wetting agents, perlite, and clay.

All packaging is labeled with full product traceability, including fraction size, blend composition, and batch identification, ensuring accountability and quality control from production to final application.

Benefits of peat Why use peat?

  • Perfect canvas for any formula
  • Available all year round
  • Free from pathogens, weeds or other contaminants
  • Best re-wetting abilities
  • Stable EC and pH with optimum nutrient storage
  • Uniform, predictable and stable
  • Excellent water buffering capacity
  • Optimum air and water ratios

Peat Consistency & Customization

In addition to its ideal chemical and physical properties, peat moss offers unmatched consistency in production and performance, which is critical for professional growers worldwide. Each bale of peat can be screened and processed into uniform fractions, ensuring predictable substrate behavior across growing cycles. This consistency allows growers to fine-tune their watering, fertilization, and transplanting routines with confidence, knowing that the medium will respond as expected every time. Peat moss supports precision horticulture through its reliability.

Peat’s compatibility with a wide range of additives and supplements makes it highly versatile in substrate formulation. Because of its low nutrient content and stable pH, it functions as a neutral base that can be enhanced according to the specific needs of each crop. From pH-adjusting lime and controlled-release fertilizers and wetting agents. Peat can integrate a variety of components without compromising structural integrity. This allows us to create customized blends that perform consistently across multiple growing environments and plant types.

Peat moss is also valued for its long shelf life and storage stability, which makes it exceptionally practical for growers. Properly packaged peat retains its structural and chemical properties for extended periods, even during long-distance transport or prolonged storage. It does not decompose rapidly or lose its effectiveness, allowing for bulk purchasing and flexible inventory management without compromising product quality. This durability ensures that growers receive a dependable growing medium that performs consistently.

Customized for Special Applications

One of our strengths is to produce custom-blended peat substrates directly on-site. Leveraging our mixing equipment, we offer tailor-made solutions that cater to specific crop requirements, regional growing conditions, and client production systems. Each blend is developed in collaboration with our customer, ensuring that the final product supports their specific needs.

Custom blends Options

Each custom substrate is carefully formulated using premium-quality additives to modify the peat’s physical and chemical properties. Each of these components is blended to precise ratios based on customer input, and controlled by laboratory analysis to guarantee uniformity and stability. Common additives include:

  • Lime – Adjusts and stabilizes pH to ensure nutrient availability in line with crop-specific needs.
  • Fertilizers – We offer both base and controlled-release options, including Osmocote, to provide essential nutrients during the early and mid-growth stages while reducing the need for additional feeding.
  • Wetting Agents – Enhance initial water absorption and improve the re-wettability of the substrate after drying, ensuring even moisture distribution throughout the root zone.
  • Perlite – A lightweight, inert material added to improve aeration, promote root oxygenation, and enhance drainage in denser peat mixtures.
  • Clay – Naturally increases the water-holding capacity and cation exchange capacity (CEC), helping the substrate retain moisture and nutrients longer for consistent plant uptake.

Quality Assurance and Certifications

Quality is a core principle that guides every stage of our production process. From peat harvesting through processing, packaging, and shipping, we maintain strict quality control protocols to ensure that every product delivered to our customers meets the highest expectations for purity, performance, and consistency.

Our packaged peat moss products are certified under the RHP quality mark, the leading European certification for growing media. This certification confirms that our products meet rigorous requirements for structure, hygiene, pH stability, and nutrient balance. RHP certification provides professional growers with an assurance that our substrates are clean, safe, and ready for reliable use in any horticultural setting. Read more about Certifications
